Silver medal. Despite the fact that 2006 was a difficult, cold, wet vintage, Kinkead Ridge won a silver medal for their 2006 second label River Village Cellars Cabernet Franc at the 2009 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. Only 15 silver medals were awarded for Cabernet Franc in a field of over 1500 medal-winning entries. Congratulations to Chalet Debonne for a fine showing, including a Double Gold for their 2008 Riesling. As far as I can tell, only one other Ohio winery won a medal for a red vinifera wine, and it was a bronze. So well done, winegrower Ron Barrett!
