Ferrante Signature Chardonnay Scores 90
2007-12-26

Ferrante Winery & Ristorante's Signature Series 2006 Chardonnay scored 90 points to earn a gold medal and "Best Buy" at the recent Beverage Tasting Institute 2007 World Wine Championships. Only 11 wines of the 72 wines entered - all Chardonnays - scored 90 or higher. The wines were judged by wine judges whose area of expertise is Chardonnay. "This Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit quality while undergoing malolactic fermentation which provides the buttery flavors and rich texture," said Ferrante winemaker Nicholas Ferrante. "Aging in French oak barrels complements the tropical aromas and flavors and provides the balance in this outstanding Chardonnay." The "Signature Series" of Ferrante's wines are made from estate-grown grapes; the grape varieties featured in the series are Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, and Cabernet Franc. The wines are presented in antique green wine bottles sporting a gold leaf screen print design.
